Cold and Sweet

COLD

This was the warmest night all week!!
The lowest temperature was 18.
On those extremely cold nights, the kids
put a sprinkler in the tree and left it on all night and the next morning....
They woke up to a icy wonderland:)

There's no keeping your grass lush and green in this weather,
not that ours is ever that way. :)
(We just do it for other people.)

Our heater went out during this cold weather.
(Probably due to lack of use),
so the fireplace was a very popular place to be.

One big bedroom, but at least we're warm.
(Desperate times call for desperate measures.)

Now that's dedication.
(No, it's not schoolwork.)

The roundup must go on in any kind of weather,
thanks to James.

The rest is of this post is pretty

SWEET

SWEET Florida OJ.

Gallons and gallons.

After 20 years of juicing, one of the pieces on our juicer became stripped,
but we ordered and recieved the part in 3 days and now we're good
for another 20 years.
(We highly recommend the "Acme Supreme Juicerator".)

O.K., back to the task at hand.(Side note to the Reynolds: Christi's shirt says,
"The sun never goes down on a farmall"
This cheeze is for you.!!

wow! what do you do with all that juice freeze it?
And oats? NOW?? when will they be ready? Love the fireplace pics. Y'all are just really trying hard to tease us into coming down there! Can you believe the only time these Yankees eat sweet potatoes is at Thanksgiving? yep - once a year. I do want to grow some. Never thought about canning some.

Oh, we want to come down!!!

I LOVE your fireplace!!! It's so pretty! What is it about a fireplace that makes people want to stand in front of it like that? Our family does the exact same thing.....especially Daddy. : )

All those oranges and sweet potatoes look wonderful!

So, the Pollocks are a juicin' again? We've been a juicin' a whole lot of grapefruit 'round here. Can't let that good Vitamin C go to waste right? That's one thing we'll surely miss when we move!

It's so funny that fresh orange juice and cold weather are always together. Doesn't quite fit the "sunny Florida" picture somehow! Oh Well, it's sunnier than up North I guess!

That's sucha pretty picture with Julia and Mary.

Nice post, Tina.

Love,
Beth

Momma R,

YES!! We are teasing you into coming down, whatever it takes :)

The oats will be ready the end of April and yes, we freeze the o.j., but we can't freeze too much, for lack of space in the freezer, so we just drink ALOT of juice between November and February. The sad news is that the freeze this year cut the season short :(.

See ya next month,
Momma P

Hillbilly,
We don't play "Piggly Wiggly" with anyone but the Pocketts :). April it is!!!!!! Don't know if we'll have any juice left, but we'll have other things you'll enjoy just as much ;).

Thanks, Beth. We've always said that one of the greatest things we'll miss WHEN we move is living in this grove where oranges are in abundance!! I'm sure you can talk some of your family into bringing you a load or two :)

Love you,
Tina
